Without fail, I have had one of these matcha lattes almost every night after dinner, and I am 100% serious when I say it is the best part of my day. Once the dishes for dinner are done, you can usually find me curled up on the couch, matcha latte in one hand, chocolate in the other hand, and Netflix on the TV.
Matcha lattes and I go way back, and I have been working on perfecting my favorite recipe for a while. I’ve tried all different kinds of milk — almond milk, whole milk, coconut milk, you name it — but I’ve determined that oat milk is by far the most delicious because it froths beautifully.
I hope you try this recipe out for yourself to see what you think!

What is Matcha?
If you’ve been around for a while, you know that I am a huge matcha fan.
Matcha is a finely ground powder made from green tea leaves, and it has a strong, delicious flavor. When consuming matcha as opposed to normal green tea, you actually get a higher concentration of the nutrients from the leaves because of the powder form.
Besides being rich in antioxidants, matcha can boost your metabolism and enhance your concentration. Many people have also noted that drinking matcha tea gives them more energy throughout the day. Delicious taste + lots of health benefits = a win in my book!
What You’ll Need
Here’s a quick overview of some of the ingredients and tools needed to make this matcha latte. The full recipe can be found at the bottom of the post!
Ingredients
- Matcha powder – While you can buy matcha powder in many grocery stores, I like to order mine on Amazon. This organic matcha powder is my favorite, and I have reordered it a few times. Since you only use a small amount for each latte, it can last you quite a long time.
- Oat milk – Personally, I love using the Oatly brand when it comes to oat milk, but feel free to use your brand of choice. If you don’t have oat milk, you could always use another type of milk instead.
- Honey – Last but not least, I like to add in a bit of honey to sweeten the latte up, but any sweetener would work well here. Maple syrup, agave syrup, or even granulated sugar are all great options.
Equipment
- Milk frother – I like to use an automatic milk frother when making this recipe because it’s just so convenient! You throw all the ingredients in there, froth the latte up, and serve.

Here’s all you need to do to make this recipe:
- In a milk frother, combine the oat milk, matcha powder, and honey. Mix on high speed until everything is well combined and the matcha powder has completely dissolved. If you want a hot latte, be sure to use the hot setting on your milk frother; if you’d prefer an iced latte, use the cold setting.
- Pour the matcha latte into your desired mug and serve. If you’re making an iced latte, be sure to pour the latte over ice before serving. Enjoy!
Tips for Making This Latte
Here are a few tips to get a perfect latte:
- Use a milk frother to get that perfect consistency. I love to throw all the ingredients into a milk frother to mix everything together. The frothing motion heats the latte up, so it’s the perfect temperature once finished! If you don’t have a frother, you can easily use a blender or a pot on the stove instead; just make sure the matcha powder dissolves completely before serving.
- Adjust the amount of matcha powder to your liking. If you’re new to the wonderful world of matcha, I recommend following the amounts listed in the recipe. But, if you like your matcha lattes a bit stronger, feel free to increase the amount of matcha powder by a teaspoon or two.
- Substitute the honey with a different sweetener if desired. I personally love adding honey to this latte for that extra touch of sweetness, but it’s not necessary. Enjoy the latte as is, or add in a few splashes of maple syrup or agave syrup instead.
