This Primark dupe has gone viral for being ‘just like’ Bobbi Brown’s vitamin primer – but it costs £50 less. I tried it to see how it matches up to the luxury beauty version.
Bobbi Brown is a beauty brand that I’ve long been a fan of. In fact, I distinctly remember after getting paid from my first job out of uni, heading to the nearest department store and buying Bobbi Brown makeup in place of my usual supermarket eyeshadow palette and Miss Sporty lipstick.

But now, in a full-circle moment, dupes are becoming just as popular as the luxury branded versions of beauty and skincare products. And when I saw Primark had a dupe for the iconic Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, I had to give it a try, not least because it only cost £2.50, reduced from £4.50. That’s a massive £50 less than the designer version.

What’s the difference?
The packaging of the two products might look pretty similar, but I’m pleased to report that it’s what’s inside that counts … and both of these have a host of vitamins to help your skin while keeping your makeup put.
The Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base contains Vitamin B5, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid as its main ingredients, while Primark’s Vitamin Enriched Moisturising Primer contains oat and shea butter plus vitamins E and C, and Niacinamide, which is a form of vitamin B3 and helps to reduce inflammation and control oil production, while hyaluronic acid provides deep hydration.

Essentially, which skin type you have depends on which of these products is best for you. If you have dry skin then Bobbi Brown’s might be better, but if your skin is oily then Primark’s might do the trick.
How do they compare?
I’ll be honest and say it’s been a while since I last bought the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, but in the past I’ve used it and loved it, so I was keen to try the Primark dupe to see how it measured up.
The smell is lovely and pretty similar to the Bobbi Brown product, but Primark’s maybe doesn’t feel so luxurious and thick on application. It went on really smoothly though and I felt like I could instantly see a difference in my skin.
Over the top I applied a bit of concealer and blusher, and then went about my day, keen to see whether Primark’s product had any staying power when it came to keeping my makeup in place.
My skin felt so soft
I applied this primer at about 7am ahead of a full-on day of Christmas shopping with my toddler, so to be honest, if my face had looked remotely decent by 9am it would have been some kind of miracle. But this really surpassed my expectations. By lunchtime my face still looked fairly passable and my makeup was still in place. What’s more, my skin felt baby-butt soft.

By 5pm I looked fairly tired (standard for any day spent with a two year old) but I’m pleased to report that my makeup was still in place and my skin felt soft.
I’m going to stock up
I only bought one of these primers because I didn’t want to get ahead of myself, but I’ve been left really impressed with the results of this £2.50 cream, and I’m keeping everything crossed that next time I go to Primark they haven’t all sold out.
For me this is a new makeup bag must-have, and I’m telling all my friends (and all of you reading) to go and grab it while you can!
