At the end of every day, I give my face some love. Washing it, moisturizing it, and, as of recently, using a serum. This is my review of two Alpha Skin Care products I’ve begun using at night: the Refreshing Face Wash Citric AHA and the Intensive Renewal Serum 14% Glycolic AHA. Here are my thoughts, after using them for a few weeks.

Alpha Skin Care Refreshing Face Wash Citric AHA
I always use a face wash at night, after my skin has been exposed to the elements, sweated a bit, and gotten dirty from my hands touching it. I used to wash my face in the morning too, but I have found my skin is actually doing well with just the once-a-day wash. I swapped out my old bottle for this new foaming Refreshing Face Wash from Alpha Skin Care two weeks ago.
Right away I liked that it doesn’t have a strong smell. Fragrance isn’t necessary for a product like this, in my opinion, and I know that scents can aggravate some peoples’ skin too.
I also think it’s great that I don’t have to use a lot. The 6 FL OZ (177 ml) bottle isn’t as large as my last one from another brand, yet I think this one from Alpha Skin Care will actually last longer as using only a bit with water creates a big amount of foam. Great! Less is more. That’s good value for a reasonably-priced face wash.
When it comes to face wash, I prefer the foaming type over gel, so this new one is great. I would like to see a pump top rather than the flip top, for convenience, but that’s a minor thing. It feels very gentle too as I rub it in circles on my face and neck, and washes away easily by splashing some warm water on my face and then patting with a towel.

After looking at the back of the bottle, I now realize why it feels so gentle. It doesn’t contain harsh alcohol or soap that can dry out the skin. It’s made to restore the skin’s pH balance too with citric AHA, which is an Apha Hydroxy Acid. This AHA purifies and tones without stripping moisture from my face.
While I don’t wear makeup (aside from lipstick) on a regular basis, those who do will likely appreciate that the Alpha Skin Care Refreshing Face Wash Citric AHA is designed to remove makeup in addition to washing away dirt and dead skin cells.
I plan to keep using the product. As explained, it’s gentle, doesn’t have a strong scent, and is good value. Best of all, my skin feels clean and soft after use, without that stripped away feeling I’ve had with some other brands. The face wash is designed for all skin types.
Alpha Skin Care Intensive Renewal Serum 14% Glycolic AHA
I had never used this type of product before. While it added an extra step in my evening bathroom routine, I was open to giving it a try.
Before using the first time, I did some research to make sure it wouldn’t aggravate my skin in any way. I read that only using a serum like this every few days is a good way to start for those who haven’t used it before, as the skin can be sensitive at first, especially in sunlight. So I opted to use the Intensive Renewal Serum every second or third night. On the product package, Alpha Skin Care recommends doing a patch test.
While many people use a Glycolic Alpha Acid (AHA) serum to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles on the face, that’s actually not why I wanted to try this one out. Instead, I was interested in using the product to help my skin look brighter as I often have a tired look, even if I sleep well. So, my hope is that this serum can help my skin looking more refreshed if I continue using it. I’ve only tried it a short time, so it’s too soon to tell. I do feel like my skin feels fresh after applying the serum, though, which is nice.

While I only started using the product a few weeks ago, I do like how light it feels and that it is easy to use with the pump top. It takes less than a minute to smooth the Intensive Renwal Serum lightly over my face (don’t wash it off). With the pump top, I automatically get the right amount of serum to use with one pump, which is handy. I then allow about a half hour before moisturizing; I’ve had to set myself reminders to come back to the bathroom to put on my cream, otherwise I forget! Ah yes, creating a new habit takes time.
While my first impression was that the 2 FL OZ (59 ml) bottle wouldn’t last long, I can tell now that’s not the case as the small bottle will last a while. That is because it’s only one pump per use; I’m using less of it than I thought I would.
As with the face wash, this serum feels light and airy on my skin. It’s not sticky and doesn’t have a fragrance either. It’s made for all skin types.
As explained earlier, my first impressions of the Alpha Skin Care Intensive Renwal Serum concentrated with 14% Glycolic AHA are positive. I’ll continue using it to be able to determine if it gives me that refreshed look I’m wanting. For those looking for something easy to use to help with wrinkles, it might be one to consider.
