Also known as ‘my usual fibre bar’, the thing is finally available once again – and as now I’ve clearly widened my product review scope to encompass them, it’s time to review them. For this test, I’ve picked a flavour I’ve not had before, so it has some modicum of ‘newness’…
First off, the box; oh, they’ve changed the packaging (was this why they vanished for a while?). I say, it’s an improvement – the previous one was rather ‘diet-heath-thing’ style which may put off some, as many of us associate healthy food = tastes horrid. An assumption which is, I’m afraid to say, partly accurate.

Announcement that ‘I’m new’ on the front, which is a partial truth – I actually think this flavour is new. However, it also says it on my usual flavour one too. So this is a technically correct thing. Like many things, has the traffic light system on the front, which shows itself to be a bit stupid my rating this product all-yellow (‘be wary’). Now while I get why they did this, rating this product as that might be overkill in this case. Well, unless they’ve changed the ingredients massively since I last had these…
Pull one out of the box; hmm, seems smaller than they used to be. But they’re the same weight (note: they’re not – each bar has lost two grams). Opening the packet reveals the truth; it is smaller, but it’s more dense than before. Rather hard to break into pieces, but not overly relevant as the thing’s so small.
Taste-wise… it’s rather nice, actually. Rather on the chewy side, admittedly but you can’t have everything. Leaves a nice caramel aftertaste. Sure, you’re not going to jump up and down to consume this, but you won’t complain if you did.

Nutritionally, this bar is a decent little thing; offers a handy package for the consumption of fibre without forcing you to consume much in anything else; sure, it has a bit of carbohydrate and so on, but you can’t avoid that in a food product. Yes, it’s a cheap knock-off of the various cereal bars out there, but a pretty good one; particularly in the price department…
