“And everything will bring a chain of love.” (Kenny Loggins) | Grhgraph's Blog

Video pisces virgo rising is a very good sign

One of my favorite songs of all time is Danny’s Song by Loggins and Messina. I heard it first in 1971 and it’s been stuck in my head ever since. I put a link to the YouTube video at the bottom of the post for those of you who appreciate great music. The lyrics are amazingly positive and uplifting, especially today when so much of the world has gone dark with fear and hatred and prejudice. I can’t live that way. I have to have something to look forward to every day and this song reminds me of how my life should be lived.

People smile and tell me I’m the lucky one,And we’ve only just begun.Think I’m gonna have a son.He will be like she and me, as free as a dove,Conceived in love.Sun is gonna shine above.

And even though we ain’t got money,I’m so in love with you, honey,And everything will bring a chain of love. And in the morning, when I rise,You bring a tear of joy to my eyesAnd tell me everything is gonna be alright.

Seems as though, a month ago, I was Beta-Chi,Never got high.Oh, I was a sorry guy.And now, I smile and face the girl that shares my name. Now I’m through with the game. This boy will never be the same.

And even though we ain’t got money,I’m so in love with you, honey,And everything will bring a chain of love. And in the morning, when I rise,You bring a tear of joy to my eyesAnd tell me everything is gonna be alright.

Pisces, Virgo rising is a very good sign,Strong and kind,And the little boy is mine. Now I see a family where the once was none. Now we’ve just begun.Yeah, we’re gonna fly to the sun.

And even though we ain’t got money,I’m so in love with you, honey,And everything will bring a chain of love. And in the morning, when I rise,You bring a tear of joy to my eyesAnd tell me everything is gonna be alright.

Love the girl who holds the world in a paper cup.Drink it up.Love her and she’ll bring you luck. And if you find she helps your mind, better take her home.Don’t you live alone.Try to earn what lovers own.

And even though we ain’t got money,I’m so in love with you, honey,And everything will bring a chain of love. And in the morning, when I rise,You bring a tear of joy to my eyesAnd tell me everything is gonna be alright.

The reason this song turned into a blog today is because we spent the last two evenings with my son Thomas and his family. It was everything this song speaks to about life – finding the right person to spend it with, earning what lovers own and the positive affirmation of togetherness with each new morning. My wife Carol and I have a great extended family. We are the proud grandparents of Verity, Granger and Lilah. We hope to be blessed with more great kids in the near future. (No pressure Lauren)

Today is Memorial Day and it’s a great day to remember all those who sacrificed their lives so that we could have a free country where any amount of happiness is actually possible. Happiness is a choice we make every day. We can make the world a better place just by living out the lyrics in this song. That’s how we should honor those who came before us and gave so much so we could have so much more. That’s the chain of love Kenny Loggins was singing about. It’s the connection we have with every generation that came before us and those that will come after us.

We are all in this life together. Race, gender, age, nationality and religion should not be our most defining characteristics. Those are only outward signs of life and don’t reflect the true character in someone’s heart. Sharing our lives with those around us means we have to give people our best effort every minute of the day. If goodness is truly in our hearts, the world will be better tomorrow because we made that the priority, not prejudice or fear.

It was fifty years ago that Kenny Loggins wrote this song. He wrote it at a time when the world was in turmoil, much like today. He still found it in his heart to be positive about the future and speak to the values he cherished deeply. I believe all of us have it in our hearts to make a difference by writing great lyrics, singing great songs, working hard to help others, teaching our children the meaning of life and practicing forgiveness. If we do all those things, I can assure you, everything is gonna be alright.
