Rosemary water for hair growth is a real trend hitting the internet right now – does it actually work? A recipe and instructions to make rosemary water is included in this post.
After seeing a LOT of hype about rosemary water online, I decided to give it a try! Today I’m sharing all of my findings about rosemary water, frequently asked questions, a video of the process, and the recipe that I used.

Personally, my hair is thin and always has been. It’s very straight and also gets greasy quickly. I am hoping that by using rosemary water daily, I will post pictures of progress in this post as I go (and I’ll share this on my Instagram as I see results as well!).
While my hair is fine, I’m always looking for ways to make it fuller. I have thyroid issues, so when my thyroid gets out of whack, my hair tends to suffer for it. My thyroid is currently in a good place, and I’m hoping that this can help my hair get back to a good place as well!
By making and using rosemary water, I’m looking for a healthier scalp, which in turn will lead to healthier hair. Continued hair growth, less hair loss, and less grease between washes.
Can you add anything else to rosemary water?
You can choose to make this with JUST rosemary and water.
I chose to add mint and cloves to my recipe. Some people said that theirs smelled weird after a few days, and by adding mint it helps it to smell better. From other online sources, I saw that clove can also be really beneficial for hair growth, so I’m giving it a try!
Does rosemary water change your hair color?
I have not dyed my hair in the last 6 months, so I cannot speak for how it would effect dyed hair. Some people have said that it might temporarily darken some blonde tones, so I suggest doing a test on some of your hair if you’re worried about it.
How long does it last?
You should refrigerate your homemade rosemary water and it will keep for about a week.
To help streamline the process (so I’m not making a batch every week) I put some in a squirt bottle in my fridge, and then froze the rest in 2 containers. I’m hoping that I can then thaw them out and refill my bottle, and what I made will last me about a month. All about working smarter not harder!
