As you guys already know my daughter, Riley is an Ever After High fan and when we saw that the entire series is now available on Netflix, she was overjoyed to be able to watch one of her favorite series anytime she wants! I have to admit that I too enjoy Ever After High which is a series centered around a high school attended by the children of famous fairy tale characters. I just love how the series focuses on challenging kids to create their own destiny. The latest Ever After High movie, SPRING UNSPRUNG has been playing in our house repeatedly so when Mattel asked me to style a party for the movie, I was all too thrilled!
HOW DID SHE DO THAT?
Watching the movie AGAIN with my daughter was step 1. Whenever I design a party based on a movie, I watch it first to get ideas on how to incorporate key decor elements from the movie into the party space and how to make the party interactive with the movie’s characters from games and activities to candy and sweets.
SET THE SCENE — Ever After High Party – Spring Unsprung!
The movie is set during the Spring Fairest…one of the biggest “SPELLEBRATIONS” of the year! It’s a huge fair full of games, sweet treats, merry-go-round, ferris wheel and fun! After watching the movie, the color palette for the party was obvious! Spring Unsprung is full of fabulous bright colors with pops of stark black and white patterns. There aren’t any party supplies currently out there for Ever After High, so I decided to use the actual dolls all throughout the party space. Inspired by parts of the movie, I included some design elements like my rainbow sequin table linen to represent Wonderland Water which in the movie, the Well of Wonder— the gateway to Wonderland— overflows with this fabulous rainbow Wonderland Water.
GIRLFRIEND TIP I always start a movie-themed party with the guests watching the movie so they are ready to get into character and really enjoy the party theme. I leave it playing on the screen during the party on mute which is a great inexpensive way to provide Ever After High decor to the party space. It’s like a huge moving billboard!

CHEF SHOWDOWN! SPRING UNSPRUNG SWEETS BAR!
In the movie, own of the most anticipated events of the Spring Fairest is the Chef Showdown where students of Ever After High compete to make the most fabulous sweet treats! Inspired by this part of the movie, I setup a Spring Unsprung Sweets Bar full of sweet treats for the girls to enjoy and pack in bags to take home with them when the party is over. To give the sweets an extra special custom touch I had my super talented baker friends create these desserts that matched the party theme perfectly! I mean…seriously…how amazing is that Spring Unsprung iced flower cookie by Auntie Bea’s Bakery! TOTALLY “HEXTREME”!

GIRLFRIEND TIP Dessert tables are such a great way to add a wow-factor decor moment for your party. The backdrop is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT parts of a Sweets Table’s design but I couldn’t find the perfect backdrop to match my theme, so I custom designed this one, uploaded the design to Bubblegum Backdrops and a few weeks later it arrived on my doorstep! Oh yeah! 
SWEET DREAMS! A SPRING UNSPRUNG SLEEPOVER!
Riley wanted to make the party a sleepover, so I setup a Sweet Dreams table under the TV so the girls could get cozy in their custom DREAM pajamas & pillows by GreatStitch and pile on the couch to watch the movie. Even though it was still early in the day, the girls loved the pajamas so much they just couldn’t wait until bedtime to wear them! They changed into them as soon as the party started.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Custom pajamas and pillows are the perfect take-home favors for your guests at a sleepover party and the photos you can get when all your guests are dressed in matching pajamas is just fabulous! 
SURPRISE GUEST! KITTY CHESHIRE CRASHES THE PARTY WITH HER PRANKS!
Kitty Cheshire, one of the main characters in Spring Unsprung, LOVES to pull pranks on her friends and sleepovers are famous for pranks, so my older daughter dressed up like Kitty Cheshire and surprised Riley and her friends by crashing the party! Not only did she crash the party, but she also pulled off MANY hilarious pranks like hiding the Kitty Cheshire doll all over the house for the girls to find, stealing their snacks, and putting signs on their backs when they weren’t looking! The girls LOVED getting “Kitty Cheshired” all night long!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: When hosting a party for little girls, it’s cool to have an older sibling or family member dress up like a character and host the party. Here Kitty Cheshire hosted a few of the activities and stayed in character as she told the girls all about her Ever After story. It was so cute and my job as party host was sooo easy! 
DRESS UP & GET GLAM WITH THE FAIREST FIVE!
The fairest five from Spring Unsprung — Lizzie Hearts, Cerise Hood, Cedar Wood, Holly O’Hair and Briar Beauty all strutted their stuff in the movie in super cute couture dresses made by Lizzie Hearts for the Spring Fairest. In honor of Lizzie’s fashion design skills, have your guests dress up! How amazing is this Spring Unsprung inspired tutu dress by Atutudes and top hat by Cupcake Wishes & Birthday Dreams! Perfect for the guest of honor. The girls also did each other’s nails and got Kitty Cheshire makeovers with whiskers and kitty noses compliments of Kitty Cheshire of course!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: If this wasn’t a sleepover, I would have provided bright colored tutus for the guests to wear while the guest of honor wore the tutu dress. But…since this was a sleepover, and the girls all had matching pajamas to wear, I instead put out cute brightly colored flower hair clips for them all to wear.
MAKE “CHARMED” BRACELETS WITH LIZZIE HEARTS!
The girls had fun making these super easy charm bracelets by sliding heart charms onto glittered bracelets. When they were done, they swapped with each other…true BFFs!
