This has been a great summer so far! We just got back from 4 fun-filled days at Disneyland, and next month we are headed to Orlando. This means lots of writing for me, and more than usual amounts of inside time for Roo.
To help curb her cabin fever her cousin B came to visit and boy was she ecstatic about it! They have spent the past few days giggling, playing, and watching their favorite movies. B has been a huge help with keeping Roo occupied and also filling in that Big Sister role, so we decided to treat the girls to an afternoon at Family Fun Center.

We have attempted to go to Family Fun Center in the past, but Roo has always been too small to truly enjoy the rides, so we opted out. She is finally tall enough and with B here I knew she would have tons of fun!
With our 150-point value package from GROUPON in tow, we hopped on I-405 for 20 minutes to Tukwila. When we pulled up to Family Fun Center & Bullwinkle’s Restaurant the girls were so shocked!

Before we jumped into the fun we decided to grab a bite to eat at Bullwinkle’s Restaurant. They serve an assortment of pizza, salads, sandwiches, and burgers.
While the girls were waiting for their food they attempted to watch the Bullwinkle show, however, the sound wasn’t working, and the animatronic characters with no sound creeped Roo out (understandably).
Thankfully the pizza arrived shortly after this small fiasco! Much to our surprise, the pizza was large, tasty, and cheesy. We were able to feed 2 adults and 2 children with a couple of pieces to bring home for dinner.
With full bellies, we got ready for fun! We redeemed our GROUPON voucher and the girls decided to start with the attractions first and the arcade last. Once we headed out back we were so thankful that B was with Riley because the place was practically deserted.
Deserted or not we made the best of it!
We had a few hiccups with attraction rides not working properly, and when we reported the issue it was passed around from person to person, which was incredibly disappointing.

Due to the heat, and our tokens being eaten up by faulty equipment the girls decided to use their remaining tokens inside at the arcade.
I would describe the arcade as a mix between midway games and casino games. Sadly this does not make for a good combination for a kid on the spectrum who is also pretty competitive. But almost all of the rides give you tickets so we would cheer for her even when she didn’t understand a game or we realized a game was too advanced for her.
The girls ended up with an impressive number of tickets (thanks to the grownups help), and they were able to even split their winnings for some prizes.
All in all, it was a fun afternoon for the girls, but I wasn’t altogether impressed. The staff was unhelpful and at times downright rude, and a lot of them were on their phones instead of tending to customers. Without a GROUPON this place can be pretty pricey, but they do have some fun things like mini-golf and an indoor play structure (that is an additional cost) that look like fun.
