I’m not one to recommend or write about products for acne, specifically supplements, unless I think they really make a positive difference in my skin. It’s difficult when it comes to acne supplements because there are so many different kinds on the market that promise bright and shiny results. They aren’t typically a one size fits all ordeal and guessing what you’re deficient in (or even what MIGHT work for you) can be quite difficult. I actually avoided supplements for a loooong time after I had a bad reaction to one that a popular blogger recommended. When that happened, I swore them off for good and tried to get as much nutrition through food as possible. That is, until recently.
Lately I’ve turned a new leaf and realized that maybe not all supplements are bad (especially if you can find a good quality one that’s all natural). It can be a long process of trial and error finding something that works, I mean REALLY works for you- but when you find that one thing, it’s nothing short of pure sweet bliss.

The Supplement of My Dreams
When it comes to acne supplements, I’ve tried just about every single thing in the book. From Zinc, Vitamin D, Fish Oil, Probiotics, and Vitamin C to L-Lysine, you name it; I’ve tried it. But never has any supplement worked to clear my skin permanently, at the most it’s been by 50%. That is until I tried the Murad Pure Skin Clarifying Dietary Supplement. Honestly, I’ve been wanting to review this supplement for a while. In fact, I eyeballed it every time I walked into Ulta but chalked it up to just another gimmicky product that probably wouldn’t work for me. Nothing else has this far, so what would make this supplement any different? Boy was I wrong.
I went against my initial gut instinct and decided to fork out the cash anyways. Infact, that week I scheduled a dermatologist appointment since my acne was getting slightly out of control again and this was my “one last try” before going in. Let me just say, I’m beyond happy I gave this supplement a chance before resorting to more extreme measures (and I would totally recommend that you do too).
Because, it actually works. Not temporarily works, not works 50% or 60% of the time, no it really freaking works. After just one bottle my acne was reduced by 90%! I completely stopped getting cysts and when I do get pimples they have a normal lifespan of only a few days, not a few months. It’s been life completely life changing, a TRUE holy grail product for me. What’s even better? It’s all natural and contains real acne fighting ingredients. Just take a peak below:

It’s the BEST My Skin Has Looked in Months
I’ll say it louder for the people in the back, these are hands down the best acne supplements I’ve ever tried. Period. I started seeing results after about two weeks, though some people say it takes a completely full bottle, or four weeks, for them to begin working. It all depends on your body’s detoxification process and how quickly you adapt to new supplements.
They’ve honestly been completely life changing for me. After years of struggling, I finally quit waking up with cysts every other day, which is nothing short of amazing. I’ve tried everything from Accutane to antibiotics, Epiduo and everything in-between and these have by far given me the quickest results with zero side effects.
My skin is clearer, softer, less irritated and just generally feels down right GOOD; which is something I never thought I would say. For a long time, my skin was red, irritated by the smallest thing (especially my dogs hair), and just didn’t feel right. I’ve finally found a solution to all my skin woes and it was this magical bottle of pills sitting just a few miles away from me this whole time! In fact I’ve already ran out to Ulta again and bought my second bottle, planning to take them for as long as I need them until my skin is completely clear and (hopefully) remains clear.
Where the Supplement Falls Short
While the Murad Pure Skin Clarifying Supplement has worked amazing on clearing my acne quickly with minimum side effects, that’s not to say there aren’t a few downfalls with this supplement. Three major things that stood out to me in regards to these pills; the smell, the number of pills per bottle, and the price.
First let’s talk about the smell. Typically, pills don’t really have a strong scent because they’re encapsulated or coated, but these are a whole other ball game. The smell is downright BAD. I mean you might gag when you first open the bottle or believe that you accidentally bought an expired batch but nope! That’s just the way they smell. It isn’t a hugeeee deal, I’ll take a smelly pill for clear skin but it’s slightly off putting.
The second thing you might notice is how many pills come in each bottle and how many you have to take each day. At 120 pills per bottle you might think, “wow, that’s an amazing deal!” But in actuality the website recommends taking four pills a day. If you’re taking two with breakfast and two with dinner, as recommended, you’ll find that you’re quickly burning through a single bottle within 30 days. It can be a little over burdening to remember taking so many pills each day, especially if you’re someone who tends to go out at night or oversleep in the morning; so, you just have to make sure it’s a priority or set an alarm on your phone. But the most aggravating aspect of running out of pills so quickly? The price.
At $50 a bottle, that’s $50 a month, or $600 in acne supplements a year- which is a little pricey if you ask me. I could probably understand $30 a bottle since that’s the current normal rate for a supplement, but $50 seems just a little excessive since. Especially since that was the same copay I had for Accutane which is way more of a “hardcore” acne drug. In the end since the supplements actually work I’ll continue to fork out the money, but it doesn’t mean I won’t complain about the price while I’m at it 🙂
