Lily’s Chocolate Roundup

are lily's chocolate chips healthy

Finally, all of the recipes featuring Lily’s chocolate that I could gather together from most of the THM bloggers I know in this first ever Lily’s Chocolate Roundup! I’m so glad to finally have these fantastic recipes all in one place because…I Love Lily’s Chocolate! Am I planning to make all of these recipes and eat them…one at a time? Why yes…yes I am! Cocoa is a wonderful product and should be enjoyed often, but sometimes….you know the times….you just need real chocolate buttery goodness and the Lily’s chocolate makers provide that in a sugar free form that Trim Healthy Mama endorses!

I grew up loving chocolate and requested Brach’s Chocolate Covered Cherries every single Christmas; then I would eat the whole box in two days! As a kid and then a young teenager I lost a lot of money for my mom and dad by going door to door selling candy that I couldn’t resist eating any more than I could stop breathing. I really think my weight problems would have caught up with me a lot sooner than they eventually did if I hadn’t lost my chocolate “sweet tooth” somewhere along the way…or at least I thought I did.

It turns out that what I lost along the way was a good chocolate supplier! The quality of chocolate candy bars, in this country at least, had changed and I just got over the idea that I loved chocolate. Then one day a few years back, a friend brought me a Cadbury chocolate bar. It was so good! I was so glad to know that even though I couldn’t eat all I wanted any more, a good chocolate candy bar still existed and the art of chocolate making was not lost.

It wasn’t until after I started following the incredibly delicious Trim Healthy Mama diet plan that I found another chocolate product to love, Lily’s Chocolate. By that time I was describing myself as a non-chocoholic…but that’s all in my past now. Lily’s chocolate bars are such a special treat and a couple of years ago I began using their chocolate chips to make a chocolate coating that I just really enjoy when it is combined with refined (no coconut flavor) coconut oil and Gentle Sweet sweetener. I have included the recipe for this coating in three out of the four recipes posted on my blog so far with many more planned for the future.

Thank you Trim Healthy Mama authors Serene and Pearl for understanding the science behind how healthy chocolate can be and encouraging it’s use on this diet plan and thank you Lily’s Sweets for making a great tasting chocolate that we can eat often and without guilt! Follow THM, Lily’s and Nana’s Little Kitchen for the latest news and sugar free recipes. All of the recipes in this post are specifically geared to the Trim Healthy Mama diet plan. Enjoy!
