Just my opinion

Hi everyone,

Over the weekend I received my October BoxyCharm box and I thought that this would be the perfect time to go through it. The theme is month is Halloween, and it says, ‘This October, we’re embracing the weird and wonderful in all of us with wicked-good glam to keep you looking spellbinding all month long.’ There are some fantastic products in this box, so let’s get into it.

So, you guys know the drill, they give you two products and you choose the others. The first product I was given is the Ciate London Dewy Skin Glass Glow Tint in 020. This is a semi-sheer skin tint with a glowing finish. I really like the idea of this, sometimes you want a lighter makeup day and this would be perfect for that. I don’t know if this is my exact shade, it looks close, but I’ll have to test it. With this you get 30 ml/1.01 Fl. Oz for $32.00, and that is starting to lean on the pricier side. But I happen to know, if you don’t want to spend that much, that e.l.f. makes a great dupe of this and it’s $8.00.

The second given product we have is the Da Lish Cosmetics Lip Scrub. They are a clean brand, and this is vegan and cruelty free. I was told by the brand that they made this specifically for Ipsy and you get 9g/0.31 oz for $18.00. Here’s the thing, I think lip scrubs can be great and I like that they’re a clean brand, but I do wish that this had a scent or something to make it more worth the price.

Moving to the Choice items, there were so many great ones, I genuinely had a difficult time picking. But, the first one we have is the Luna Magic Beauty Glitter Eyeliner Duo in Mesmerized. This is a double ended eyeliner and with it you get a dark brown gel liner and a really pretty champagne/gold glitter liner. It says you can wear them separately or you can combine them and honestly, I can’t wait to play around with it and see how all those look. You get 4.0 ml of the brown liner and 0.2g of the glitter for $18.00 and for as much as products like this can go for, that is a very fair price.

Next up we have the Tarte Brush Tape Liquid Blush in Pink. You guys already know, this is a holy grail product for a lot of people, but this combines blush with glow and has diamond powder to give you a soft focus glow and porcelain flower that brightens for a radiant finish. This shade in particular is a gorgeous almost rose gold, but it’s a little bit deeper. Basically it’s gorgeous and I can’t wait to wear it. And with this you get 12 ml/0.4 Fl Oz for $36.00, which is about what products like this go for, so it’s well priced.

And the last Choice item we have is the Lunar Beauty Moonshroom Highlighter Palette. I’ve said this before, but the Lunar Beauty packaging is so beautiful. This is a really nice size palette, not too big but you get a lot of product. Specifically, you get 0.46 oz/13 g for $36.00, which I think is fairly priced.

This palette includes a nice size mirror, which is always appreciated.

And you get four highlighters in this palette.

I swatched them how they appear, so first we have Sugar which is a lighter shade, more neutral, with a little bit of white. Next to that is Tink and that is a light gold, then there’s Blossom, which is a gorgeous pink with a little bit of gold. And the last highlight we have is Sprinkle, which is a deep gold.

Something that BoxyCharm/Ipsy do is Add-Ons for boxes, and I don’t always get something, but this time I picked up two deluxe minis. The first is the Tarte Fake Awake Eye Highlight in Nude. This has a no tug, gel formula that you put in your waterline to make you look more awake. You can also use it to highlight other features. But it’s $24.00 for the full size, which is 0.20 g, but it does have a built in smudger. This did swatch nicely and I got the mini because I wanted to test it against a ColourPop eyeliner I have that is the same color and I use for the same thing, so I’ll let you know what I think.

And the second mini I got is the Fenty Beauty Semi-Matte Lipstick in 01 The MVP. This is a red lipstick and during this time of year I always pick up one or two new red lipsticks. This swatched beautifully, very pigmented and smells really good. Shade wise, this is a nice red, it’s not too bright red but also not too dark. So excited to wear this lipstick, it might end up being my Christmas Day lipstick. This is one of the refillable ones, and it will run you $20.00, which I think is super reasonable pricing.

That about wraps it up for this post, like I said, so many fantastic products and I’d love to know what your favorites were.

Until next time, have fun creating different looks and I can’t wait to see what I get next month! 🙂
