Green Tea Shot – Here’s How To Make It

This green tea shot recipe is a fun drink to serve whenever I invite people over for a get together. Bright in color and full of fruity sweetness, it goes down so smoothly! This Jameson whiskey based shooter is similar to a kamikaze and only requires 4 ingredients to make.

The first time I had a green tea shot it reminded me of a kamikaze because of its yellowish green color and fruity flavor. But while the kamikaze has a strong vodka taste, the green tea shot is much more mellow in the sense that it tastes more like a summer cocktail than a shot. The flavors are sweet, bright and peachy, with the spiced taste of whiskey that warms the back of the throat.

Despite its name, the green tea shot actually doesn’t contain any green tea! I was surprised to know that the first time I made it. I expected a milder, more tea-like taste, and was instead introduced to a very fruity cocktail. My recipe is very simple and easy to make. It contains the traditional Jameson Irish Whiskey, sour mix, Peach Schnapps, and some lemonade.

Ingredients

Jameson Irish Whiskey: Jameson whiskey is the recommended brand because this cocktail was invented by the Jameson whiskey company. But if you are like me and aren’t too knowledgeable about whiskey, feel free to use another popular whiskey brand. The taste of whiskey is quite diluted so you won’t be able to tell the difference.
Sour mix: Sour mix is a cocktail mix made of equal parts lemon and lime juice with some simple syrup that’s been mixed and shaken with ice cubes. You can buy it at the liquor store and in some grocery stores.
Peach Schnapps: Also often used as a cocktail mix, Peach Schnapps is a grain spirit that’s both sweet and fruity. It’s syrupy and the flavors are quite concentrated.
Lemonade or lemon-lime soda: I personally prefer using sugar-free or low sugar lemonade for this drink as I’m a big fan of sour drinks. If you prefer sweet, use sweetened lemonade or Sprite for a little fizz.

How To Make It

Put the ingredients in the shaker. Add equal amounts of whiskey, peach schnapps and sour mix into a shaker.
Fill it with ice. Fill the shaker with ice, put the lid on and give it a vigorous shake.
Serve it. Pour the drink into shot glasses and add a splash of lemon-lime soda or lemonade. Enjoy!
