Bruegger’s – Dozens of Dairy-Free Bagels & Sandwiches

does bruegger's bagels have gluten-free bagels

Updated August 2024! Bruegger’s is a fast casual bakery-cafe that focuses on bagels. In fact, they produce about 70 million bagels each year. They do serve some other items, but have streamlined their cafe menu in recent years to really focus on sandwiches. For a brief period, Bruegger’s offered Daiya Dairy-free Cream Cheese Style Spread. But unfortunately, due to low sales, it was discontinued. Nevertheless, they still have many dairy-free ways to top your bagel …

Bruegger’s Bagels Dairy-Free Menu Guide with Allergen Notes & Vegan Options

This menu guide includes dairy-free menu options first, followed by custom order components. Be aware of special order requirements in parentheses () next to the menu items, and see the Heads Up notes to help fill in the blanks.

Other Allergen & Dietary Notes: Bruegger’s Bagels does not offer a gluten-free bagel or gluten-free bread at this time. They’ve also discontinued menu salads, but can serve sandwich options on lettuce, in a pinch. Their Vegetable Soup, where available, is made without wheat. We have noted all items that contain egg, nuts, or soy below. Please note that Bruegger’s does not label items with highly refined soybean oil as containing soy, per the FDA. For vegan options, see the Vegan Menu Guide at the bottom of this post.

Heads Up! In the nutrition guide, the Maple French Toast Bagels are listed as made without milk and we don’t see any obvious milk in the ingredients. But online, they have the milk/dairy icon with this bagel. We have inquired to find out which is correct/incorrect and will update when we have this information. The bagels available at Bruegger’s can vary by day, season, and location. Each location usually has about a dozen dairy-free options daily.

Bagel Spreads: At this time Bruegger’s does not have any dairy-free cream cheese alternatives. And they no longer have hummus. They do offer Peanut Butter (contains soy), Jellies, and Honey. Avocado is also still available at some locations, though not listed as a spread option.

Breakast

Heads Up! The Twice Baked Hash Browns contain milk. All Breakfast Sandwiches at Bruegger’s have both cheese and a butter blend (contains milk) on them. They do use the butter blend to cook the eggs. Some locations will let you special order an egg and breakfast meat sandwich, but be sure it has no butter, no cheese, and no tomato spread. See below for protein and spread options.

Salads

Heads Up! At the time of our review, most Bruegger’s locations were not offering salads. When they do, you can custom order a salad without cheese or croutons (they do contain milk) and with a dairy-free dressing.

Dairy-Free Salad Dressings: Balsamic Vinaigrette, Champagne Vinaigrette (both contain soy)
