These days, eating gluten-free doesn’t necessarily mean you have to forgo one of your favorite meals: pizza. With more and more restaurants – and even fast food chains – offering gluten-free pizza crust alternatives, it’s more possible than ever before to enjoy a slice (or two, or three) of delicious pizza sans wheat or gluten when you dine out or order in.

For those Pizza Hut lovers who happen to be gluten-free, we’ve got good news and bad news. The good news: Pizza Hut does offer a gluten-free pizza crust! The bad news: it’s available in around one-third of Pizza Hut locations nationwide.

So if you’re one of the lucky ones near a Pizza Hut location that offers gluten-free crust, you’ve got plenty on the menu to choose from. If not, you’re out of luck with pizza…but do you have any other options? Whether you have Celiac disease, you’re sensitive to gluten, or you’re simply trying to avoid it in your overall diet – here’s what you need to know about eating gluten-free at Pizza Hut.

Gluten-free food and drink items available on the Pizza Hut menu

At the locations that offer gluten-free options, Pizza Hut partners with Udi’s for a gluten-free pizza crust. The gluten-free crust is 10 inches, which can serve one to two people, and its main ingredients are tapioca starch, brown rice flour, canola oil, and egg whites.

While Pizza Hut does have designated pizza boxes and pizza rollers for gluten-free crust orders, it’s important to keep in mind for those with Celiac disease or serious allergies that the chain cannot declare itself to have a gluten-free environment. Since there are other ingredients and products containing gluten in the same locations, Pizza Hut can’t guarantee the complete absence of cross-contamination.

Most of Pizza Hut’s pizzas come with a gluten-free crust option at the locations that offer them, or the Udi’s crust can be customized with a create-your-own-pizza order. Pizza Hut has a large selection of toppings that naturally don’t contain any gluten, along with sauces and dipping sauces, so you’ll have lots to choose from if you build your own pizza. (The main items to avoid: the meatball topping and the Creamy Garlic Parmesan sauce).

If your Pizza Hut location doesn’t offer any gluten-free pizza options, some locations also sell salad, which can be modified to be gluten-free. If you strike out on both counts, then unfortunately you’re pretty much out of luck with the Pizza Hut menu. Since all of the sides and desserts are made with flour or gluten, and even the bone-in chicken wings contain wheat, unfortunately the gluten-free pizza or modified salads are your only options.

Here’s everything you can order on the Pizza Hut menu, along with any required modifications, to keep your next meal gluten-free.
